CIO* is the general term for ICT executives :
- CIO : Chief Information Officer
- CDO : Chief Digital Officer
- CTO : Chief Technology Officer
- IT Director : Information Technology Director
However, there are distinctions between a CIO and a CTO:
A CIO is likely to solve organizational problems through acquiring and adapting existing IT related technologies, whereas a CTO principally oversees development of new technologies.
Another IT related function is the CDO (Chief Data Officer), a corporate officer responsible for enterprisewide governance and utilization of information as an asset, via data processing, analysis, data mining, information trading and other means.
